2011 Women of Concern Awards Luncheon

This year’s honorees of the Concern Worldwide Women of Concern Awards.

A benefit for Concern Worldwide US, the international humanitarian relief organization, were Dateline NBC correspondent and NBC’s Today Show co-host Hoda Kotb and 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Amy Ellis Nutt, an enterprise writer at Newark’s Star Ledger. They were recognized as role models for women in their respective professions and for their commitment to charitable work.
Noted for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Kotb is the best-selling author of Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer and Kathie Lee (Simon & Schuster). Ellis Nutt recently published Shadows Bright as Glass: the Remarkable Story of One Man’s Journey from Brain Trauma to Artistic Triumph (Simon & Schuster Canada). She won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for her in depth investigative reporting on the still unexplained sinking of a fishing boat off the coast of Cape May in 2009, which killed six crew members.
