CCE’s “Lunch Before the Luncheon”
01/12/2011 - By Palm Beach, FL

CCE’s “Lunch Before the Luncheon”

Center for Creative Education (CCE) artist and chef, Ken Grey described the health benefits of the ginger root used in the Ginger Carrot Passion soup.

And guests at CCE’s “Lunch Before the Luncheon” on January 12 had a taste of how the organization incorporates healthy eating, art and learning into its arts integration programming for area school children in Project GROW.

Hosted by CCE board member and community relations committee chairman Margie Larkin in her magnificent Palm Beach home, the pre-event kicked off plans for CCE’s Twelfth Annual Spring Luncheon, set for March 10, 2011 at a private Palm Beach residence. The luncheon’s “Going Back to its Roots” theme will reflect the mission of the organization – reinventing education through the arts. Kenn Karakul will serve as honorary chairman and Pauline Pitt will co-chair CCE’s Twelfth Annual Spring Luncheon.

The not-for-profit Center for Creative Education uses the arts to enrich and transform children’s educational experience. The arts are infused into classroom curriculum and after-school settings to enhance the teaching of traditional academic subjects – improving each child’s learning potential and academic performance, increasing overall enthusiasm about school and shaping more productive, responsible community members that exercise creative problem solving throughout life. CCE’s newest program, Project GROW focuses on teaching students artful and hands-on ways to have a positive and healthy body and mind.

“By highlighting Project GROW programming, ‘Lunch before the Luncheon’ was a wonderful way to kick off our annual Spring Luncheon and Margie’s home was the perfect setting to bring Luncheon committee members up-to-date on CCE’s new programming,” said Tom Pilecki, CCE executive director. “This year’s them will emphasize what CCE is all about and how we’ve come to serve more than 100,000 underserved Palm Beach County students. Our artists are using innovative and cutting edge methods to integrate arts into students’ learning and teacher, student and parent comments, along with soaring test scores, are proving that it’s working!”]

The CCE Luncheon host committee includes: Marianne “Fuzzy” Billings, Paula Butler, Cheryl Gowdy, Sara Groff, Vicki Kellogg, Margaret Luce, Gina Mortara, Danielle Ortiz, Debbie Pucillo, Diane Scaravelli, Mary Stanton, Sonja Stevens, Frances Webster, Elizabeth Wetherell, along with CCE Board Members Vicki Halmos, Margie Larkin and Kenn Karakul.

Tickets to CCE’s Annual Spring Luncheon are $250 per person and sponsorships are still available. For information please call (561) 805-9927 and ask for Tom, or visit www.cceflorida.org.
